### Minimal, or more in one app

Open Video Downloader focuses on downloading what yt-dlp supports. OmniGet adds its own extractors for sites such as Instagram, X, Bilibili and Pinterest, a BitTorrent client, direct file downloads, a browser extension that forwards your login, an MCP server for coding agents and, since 0.10, AI coding agents that run in a folder with permission before every write.

These two are the closest pair among free yt-dlp apps. Both are built on Tauri, so neither ships a whole browser, both are open source, and both hand the long tail of sites to yt-dlp. The differences are in size, platform coverage and how much each app does besides running yt-dlp.
