Superpowers

# OmniTube

OmniTube plays YouTube and YouTube Music inside OmniGet, with your account or without one. It adds SponsorBlock, DeArrow, filters for what you do not want to see, and a download button that uses the same quality menu as the rest of the app.

OmniTube is not affiliated with YouTube or Google.

## Where it is

**Superpowers › OmniTube**. To turn it off or on: **Settings › Integrations › OmniTube**, switch **Enable OmniTube**. Its own settings are under **Settings** at the bottom of OmniTube’s guide.

## How to use it

1.  Open **OmniTube**. Use the switch at the top to pick **Videos** or **Music**.
2.  Search with the box at the top, or browse **Home**.
3.  Click a video to open it. Below the player you find the description, chapters, comments and **Up next**.
4.  To save a video, open **Download** under the player and pick **Video** or **Audio only**, a quality and what to do with sponsor segments (**Keep all**, **Mark chapters** or **Cut out**). It goes to the normal [queue](https://getomniget.com/docs/queue).

Music keeps playing while you move around the rest of OmniGet. **Endless radio** adds similar songs when the queue runs out.

### With or without an account

-   **Without an account**, everything works: subscriptions, history and Watch later stay on this computer (**Subscriptions on this device**).
-   **To sign in**, open **Settings › Account** in OmniTube and click **Sign in**. A sign-in window opens; when it finishes, the account is saved in OmniGet’s cookie vault, like any other [account](https://getomniget.com/docs/cookies).
-   If you already imported YouTube cookies into OmniGet, **Use the account from the cookie vault** signs in with them.

Use only your own account.

### Import and export

**Import and export** (at the bottom of the guide) brings in subscriptions and history from other apps. Drop a file or choose one; the format is detected for you. Nothing leaves your computer.

**Export** saves your local subscriptions for another app.

## Options

OmniTube’s **Settings** has these sections: **Account**, **Playback**, **SponsorBlock**, **DeArrow and dislikes**, **Distractions**, **Filters**, **Appearance**, **Downloads and automation** and **Import and export**.

### Playback

### SponsorBlock

**Use SponsorBlock** (on by default) shows crowd-sourced segments on the progress bar in their category color. For each category you choose **Skip**, **Ask**, **Only show** or **Off**.

**SponsorBlock in downloads** marks segments as chapters or cuts them out of downloaded files (off by default). **Channels without SponsorBlock** lists channels where nothing is skipped. **Server** changes only if you run your own SponsorBlock mirror.

### DeArrow and dislikes

### Distractions and filters

**Presets** set many switches at once: **Clean** (no members-only videos, mixes, games or end screens), **Focus** (Clean, plus an empty home, no related videos, no Shorts and no videos you already watched) and **Seeker** (Focus, plus no comments, opening on **Subscriptions**).

**Filters** hides videos everywhere except **Subscriptions**: **Blocked channels** (block one from any video’s ⋮ menu), **Blocked words** (with **Match whole words only**, on by default), and **Minimum length** / **Maximum length**.

### Appearance

**Look** is **Classic** (YouTube’s own colors, the default) or **OmniGet theme**. **Open in** picks **Videos** or **Music** first, **Start page** the first screen of the Videos side, and **Grid columns** the videos per row.

### Downloads and automation

-   **Download folder**: by default the same as OmniGet’s download folder.
-   **Auto-download rules**: new videos from your local subscriptions that match a rule are downloaded on their own. A rule has channels, words the title must or must not contain, length limits, quality, SponsorBlock handling, a folder, and how many files to keep. **See what it would download** previews the rule before you save it. **Check now** runs the rules right away.
-   **Disk limit for automatic downloads**: when it is full, the oldest automatic downloads go to the trash. Pinned ones stay.

## Common problems

### A video does not play or download

OmniTube uses yt-dlp and FFmpeg as helpers for playback and downloads. **Settings › Account** shows whether both are found. If one is missing, install it in **Settings › Dependencies** of the app (see [Dependencies](https://getomniget.com/docs/dependencies)).

### Sign-in did not finish

The sign-in window closes only after YouTube confirms the login. If you closed it early, click **Sign in** again.

### Some videos never show up

Check **Distractions** and **Filters**: a preset, a blocked word or a length limit may hide them. **Subscriptions** is not filtered by blocked channels.
