Accounts and cookies

Some sites show a video, a higher quality or a whole profile only when you are signed in. OmniGet does not ask for passwords: it uses the cookies of your own browser session, kept per site on your computer, so downloads can see what your account sees.

Where it is

Settings › Downloads › Cookies, under Show advanced options. Everything stays on your computer; Open folder shows where the files are kept.

How to use it

Capture cookies with the extension

The quickest way is the Browser extension:

  1. Sign in to the site in your browser.
  2. Click the OmniGet extension icon and then Save site cookies.
  3. The site appears in Cookies within seconds, as a card.

Capture via extension at the top of the section shows the same reminder.

Import a file

  1. Click Import.
  2. Choose File and pick a cookies file in Netscape format (.txt, the format yt-dlp uses) or JSON (.json). Or choose Paste, paste the file’s contents in Content, optionally add a Source URL (optional) and a Name (optional), and click Import.
  3. OmniGet sorts the cookies by site and shows Imported: … cookies across … platform(s).

For a site that has no card yet, click + Add generic, type the domain (for example bandcamp.com) and click Paste cookies.

Read a site card

Each site gets one card (a bucket) with:

  • The status: Fresh cookies, Aging cookies, Old cookies — possibly expired or No cookies.
  • How many cookies it holds, when and from where they were captured (Captured from), and how long until they expire.
  • The buttons View (the contents, with Filter by cookie name… and Copy all), Export (saves a Netscape file), Rename, Test and Clear.

Test the cookies

Click Test on a card. OmniGet tries the site with those cookies and answers Cookies work. or Test failed: with the reason. When a test fails, sign in again in the browser and capture the cookies again.

Use several accounts

  1. On a site’s card, click + Add another account.
  2. Paste the cookies of the other account and give it a name.

The extra accounts are listed under the main one. When you download from that site, choose the account in Account under Quality and more on Home; see Quality, mode and formats.

Sign in to Bilibili

On the bilibili.com card:

  • Sign in via Bilibili page opens Bilibili’s own sign-in page in a window. After you sign in, OmniGet shows Signed in as ….
  • + Add another account shows Sign in to Bilibili with QR Code: open the Bilibili app on your phone, scan the code and confirm. If the code expires, click Generate new code.

Once signed in, Import Watch Later and Import History add those lists to your downloads.

The bilibili.com card appears after OmniGet has cookies for bilibili.com at least once, for example from Save site cookies in the extension.

Clear cookies

Click Clear on a card and confirm. To clear several at once, tick their checkboxes and use the delete button in the bar above the cards. Cleared cookies are moved to a _trash folder inside the cookies folder.

Options

Option What it does Default
Always use managed cookies Downloads use only the cookies kept here. A site with no card downloads without signing in, and the log says so. Turn it off to fall back to the older sources: a manual header, a global file or reading the browser directly. On

Reading cookies straight from a browser profile is an expert option in Proxy and network. It works only with Always use managed cookies off.

Common problems

The site asked for a login to reach this content.

The download needs your account. Capture the site’s cookies with the extension, or import them, then retry from the Queue.

Old cookies — possibly expired

Sites end sessions after a while. Sign in again in the browser, click Save site cookies again, and Test the card.

Pair OmniGet first

The extension cannot send cookies until it is paired with the app. See Browser extension.

The download ignores my browser session

With Always use managed cookies on, OmniGet uses only the cookies listed here. Capture the site’s cookies with the extension, or turn the option off.
