Quality, mode and formats

Under the main download button, Quality and more holds the choices for the link you just pasted: the mode, the resolution, the folder and the account. Advanced inside it opens the full list of formats when you want one exact stream.

Where it is

Home, after you paste a link: click Quality and more under the download button. The list of formats is in Quality and more › Advanced › View formats.

These options are not shown for direct file links and for share codes, which have nothing to choose.

How to use it

  1. Paste a link in the box on Home. See Paste a link.
  2. Click Quality and more.
  3. Pick a mode: Auto, Audio only (MP3) or Video without sound.
  4. Pick a Quality.
  5. If you want a different folder for this download, open Output: and pick one.
  6. Click the download button.

Modes

Mode What you get
Auto Video with sound, or the photo or file the link points to.
Audio only (MP3) Only the sound, saved in the Music download format (M4A by default, despite the label). See Audio only.
Video without sound The video track only.

OmniGet remembers the last mode you used and starts the next link in the same mode.

Quality

Before OmniGet reads the formats of a video, the choices are Best quality, Full HD (1080p), HD (720p) — lighter, Medium (480p) — fast and Low (360p) — very light.

After you click View formats, the list shows only the resolutions this video really has, including 4K (2160p) and 2K (1440p) when they exist, and Audio when the site offers an audio-only stream. The line Showing resolutions available for this video tells you the list is now exact.

Each new link starts at the quality set in Settings › Downloads › Quality › Video quality.

See every format

  1. Open Quality and more › Advanced.
  2. Click View formats. OmniGet asks the site for the list. Click Hide formats to close it.
  3. Pick a preset:
    • Best: the best video with audio (mode Auto, quality Best quality).
    • Music: the best audio stream (mode Audio only). Shown only when the site has an audio-only stream.
    • Custom: shows the table of formats.
  4. In Custom, click a row to choose that exact format. The quality buttons hide while a format is chosen. Click the × next to it to go back.

The table has these columns:

Column What it shows
ID The format code the site uses.
Type The file extension (mp4, webm, m4a…).
Quality The resolution the site reports.
A/V V+A (video and audio), V (video only) or A (audio only).
Video The video codec.
Audio The audio codec, and the audio language when the site gives one.
Size The file size. A ~ in front means an estimate.
Speed The bitrate of the stream, in kbit/s.

Video-only formats (V) are joined with the best audio automatically when FFmpeg is installed.

For playlists the table is not available: the Quality you pick applies to every video.

Output folder

Output: shows where this download goes. Open it to pick:

  • Default folder, from Settings › Downloads › Files and folders.
  • A folder you used before. Click the × next to it to forget it.
  • Choose… to pick another folder. OmniGet keeps it in this list for next time.

Account

When OmniGet has more than one saved login for the site, Account: lets you pick which one to use. The most recently used account comes first. Accounts come from Accounts and cookies.

Options

The defaults for new links live in Settings › Downloads.

Option What it does Default

Common problems

4K is not in the list

The first list only goes up to Full HD. Open Advanced › View formats: if the video has 4K or 2K, they appear in Quality. If they still do not appear, the site does not offer them for this video, or only offers them to signed-in accounts.

Failed to load formats

The site did not answer the format request. Click Try again. If the site needs a login, see Accounts and cookies.

The audio file is not an MP3

Audio only (MP3) saves in the Music download format, which is M4A by default. Change it in Settings › Downloads › Output. See Audio only.
