Search without a link

You do not need a link to start a download. Type a title or a few words in the box on Home and OmniGet shows the first 6 YouTube results; pick one and it is handled like a pasted link.

Where it is

Home, in the Paste a link or search box.

How to use it

  1. Type at least 2 characters that are not a link, for example a song or video title.
  2. Wait while OmniGet shows Searching….
  3. Under Results for “…”, each row shows the thumbnail, the title, the channel and the length.
  4. Click a result. OmniGet puts its link in the box and checks it, as if you had pasted it.
  5. Choose the options you want and click the download button. See Quality, mode and formats.

Options

The search in the box has no settings. It always searches YouTube and shows up to 6 results.

To search other sites, use Downloads › Tools › Search sites. It searches YouTube, YouTube Music, SoundCloud, Bilibili, Niconico and the Internet Archive at the same time, without an account, and can download a result as video or Audio only. See Download tools.

Common problems

Nothing found for “…”

YouTube returned no results, or the search could not reach it. Try other words, or paste the link. If every search fails, check your connection and see Dependencies: the search uses yt-dlp.

I pasted an address and got search results

Text only counts as a link when it starts with http:// or https://. An address like www.example.com/video without the beginning is searched as words. Copy the full address from your browser.
