Languages
The OmniGet interface comes in 12 languages. The translations are made by volunteers, so some languages are complete and others still show parts of the app in English.
Where it is
Settings › General › Language. The same menu is in the first step of the first launch.
How to use it
- Open Settings › General.
- Pick a language in Language.
The app changes at once, with no restart. On the first launch, OmniGet picks your system language when it has a translation for it, and English otherwise.
Options
The languages, as the menu shows them:
| Language | In the menu |
|---|---|
| English | English |
| Portuguese | Português |
| Spanish | Español |
| French | Français |
| Italian | Italiano |
| Russian | Русский |
| Greek | Ελληνικά |
| Persian | فارسی |
| Lao | ລາວ |
| Japanese | 日本語 |
| Chinese (Simplified) | 中文 |
| Chinese (Traditional) | Chinese (Traditional) |
Persian and right-to-left
With Persian, the whole window switches to a right-to-left layout. It switches back when you pick a left-to-right language.
Coverage
Coverage is uneven. Where a string has no translation yet, OmniGet shows the English text in its place, so a page can mix two languages.
Help translate
The translations live on Weblate, an open translation platform. You can translate from the browser, without touching any code:
- Open OmniGet on Weblate.
- Pick your language and start translating, or review the suggestions already there.
New translations ship with the next release of the app.
Common problems
Part of the app is still in English
That text has no translation in your language yet. You can add it on Weblate.
The language changed by itself after the first launch
OmniGet matched your system language on the first launch. Pick another one in Settings › General › Language; your choice is kept.
