Downloads
Queue
The queue is the list of everything OmniGet is downloading, waiting to download, or has just finished. It shows the speed, the steps of each download and the cause of an error, and lets you pause, resume, retry or reorder items.
Where it is
- Click Downloads in the sidebar. The Downloads tab at the top is the queue; History and Tools sit next to it.
- The number next to Downloads counts the active and paused items.
- When nothing is in the queue, the page says Nothing downloading right now and offers Paste a link and View download history.
How to use it
Filter the list
Click one of the filters above the list. Each one shows how many items it holds.
| Filter | Shows |
|---|---|
| All | Every item. |
| Active | Items downloading, seeding or paused. |
| Queued | Items waiting for a free slot. |
| Completed | Finished items. |
| Failed | Items that stopped with an error. |
Finished and failed items appear 20 at a time. Click Show … more at the end of the list to see the rest.
Pause, resume and stop
Each item shows the buttons that fit its state:
- Downloading: Pause and Cancel.
- Paused: Resume and Cancel.
- Seeding (torrents): Show in folder and Stop, which stops sharing and removes the item.
- Error: Retry and Remove.
- Complete: Show in folder, Re-encode (compress) for videos, and Remove.
Remove asks for a second click: the button changes to Remove this download? for 3 seconds. Removing an item takes it off the list; the file stays on disk.
Act on the whole queue
The buttons at the top of the page work on every item:
- Pause all appears when something is downloading.
- Resume all appears when something is paused.
- Clear finished removes the completed items from the list after you confirm Clear all finished downloads?. Failed items stay so you can retry them. Your files and your History stay.
Reorder the queue
Items that are waiting show under Queued, with the hint drag to reorder. Drag an item above or below another one. The item at the top starts first when a slot opens. How many downloads run at once is set in Performance.
Read what a download is doing
While a download runs, its card shows:
- Steps: Info, Video, Audio, Download, Merge and Finish, with the current one marked. The line under them names the phase, for example Merging audio & video… or Waiting for the site’s rate limit….
- Progress: the size downloaded, the total, the speed, the time left and the time elapsed.
- Speed chart: a small graph of the speed over the last moments, while data is moving.
- Format: the quality and codecs being downloaded, for example
1080p · mp4 · avc1 + mp4a.
Click Show log to see every line the download engine wrote. Click Copy to copy the log, and Hide log to close it. While the log is closed, the card shows its last line.
Click Command to see the command OmniGet ran. See yt-dlp command to copy it or to edit it and run it again.
Understand an error
When a download fails, the card shows the cause in plain words when OmniGet recognises it, with a button that fixes it when there is one:
| Cause shown | Button |
|---|---|
| The site asked for a login to reach this content. | Import cookies (see Accounts and cookies) |
| yt-dlp needs an update to keep up with this site. | Update yt-dlp, then Try again |
| YouTube asked for a proof-of-origin token before serving this video. | Open the PO token guide |
| YouTube only offered streams this player cannot save yet. | Try again |
| The site is rate-limiting downloads from your connection. | Try again |
| The site blocked the connection before sending any content. | Try again |
| There is no space left on the download disk. | None: free some space, then Retry |
Open Technical details to read the original error message.
Recover unfinished downloads
If OmniGet closed while downloads were running, the next start shows Unfinished downloads. Click Resume downloads to put them back in the queue, or Discard to forget them. OmniGet then tells you how many it resumed, how many it checked without downloading again because the file was already complete, and how many need your attention in Downloads.
Closing with downloads running
Closing the window hides OmniGet to the tray, and downloads keep going. When you quit OmniGet from the tray menu, or close the window while Quit when the window is closed is on (and Run agents in the background is off) in Settings › General, and downloads are still running, OmniGet asks first: Downloads in progress. Click Keep running to stay, or Close anyway to quit and cancel them.
Options
| Option | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Download speed limit | Caps the speed of every download. The menu at the top of the queue offers a few fixed values; any value can be typed in Settings › Downloads › Output. See Folders and names. | No speed limit |
Shortcuts
| Action | Keys |
|---|---|
| Switch between the queue and History (on the Downloads page) | ⌃HCtrl+H |
| Run an edited command | ⌘↩Ctrl+Enter |
Common problems
The download stays on “Stalled — waiting for data”
The site stopped sending data. Wait a moment; if nothing changes, Pause and Resume the item, or Cancel it and try again later. A slow proxy also causes this; test it with Proxy check in Download tools.
This link has expired or had its access key removed for privacy.
OmniGet does not keep secret keys of signed links, so Retry cannot rebuild them. Paste the original link again on Home.
An item will not start
Only a set number of downloads run at the same time; the rest wait under Queued. Drag the item to the top, or raise Concurrent downloads in Performance.
