Download
Clips, scheduling and Referer
Three extra options sit under Advanced for the link you just pasted. Download only a section saves a clip instead of the whole video, Schedule starts the download later, and Referer helps with videos embedded in another site.
Where it is
Home, after you paste a link: Quality and more › Advanced.
How to use it
Download only a section
- Open Quality and more › Advanced.
- Under Download only a section (optional), type a Start and an End, as
mm:ssorhh:mm:ss. A number of seconds also works. - Click the download button.
Leave Start empty to begin at the start of the video. Leave End empty to go to the end. Leave both empty to download the whole video.
This option is not shown for playlists.
Schedule a download
- Open Quality and more › Advanced.
- Under Schedule, click a shortcut:
- In 1 hour: an hour from now.
- Tonight: today at 22:00, or tomorrow if that time has passed.
- Tomorrow: the same time tomorrow.
- Or type the date and time yourself in the first pair of fields (Start time).
- To stop the download at a set time, fill in the second pair (Stop time). If the download is still running then, OmniGet cancels it.
- Click the download button. The download waits in the Queue until its start time.
Click Clear to remove both times. With no start time, the download starts now.
Scheduling is set per download. There is no global scheduler that pauses or starts the whole queue at certain hours.
Send a Referer
Some videos only play when the request says which page they came from. This is common for videos embedded on another site.
- Open Quality and more › Advanced.
- In Referer (optional), paste the address of the page where the video is embedded, such as
https://example.com. - Click the download button.
Referer is shown only for Vimeo links and for links handled by the generic engine (sites without a handler of their own). See Sites and engines.
Options
| Option | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Download only a section (optional) | Saves only the part between Start and End. | Empty (whole video) |
| Schedule › Start time | When the download begins. | Empty (now) |
| Schedule › Stop time | Cancels the download if it is still running at this time. | Empty (no stop) |
| Referer (optional) | The page address sent with the request. | Empty |
Common problems
The whole video downloaded instead of the clip
OmniGet ignores the section when Start or End is not in a time format it understands. Use mm:ss (for example 01:30), hh:mm:ss, or a number of seconds, with no other text.
The scheduled download did not start
OmniGet has to be running at the start time; it does not use your system’s scheduler. If the app was closed then, open it and check the Queue. If the item is not there, paste the link again.
